In keeping with its insularity, life in many Cuban cities has been marked by the sea. From early times, the islanders have felt the closeness and influence of the sea in the development of their lives, that somehow their presence marked the Cuban character. Of the seven first human settlements on the island, three were on the coast: Baracoa, Santiago de Cuba and Havana. Other cities and towns on the coast were born after, but they are no less important although not as old. For example, Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Caibarien, Gibara, Manzanillo Nueva Gerona and worth a visit, everyone. These cities differ from one another, but all have the same charm sea which gives shape to a different lifestyle, the spirit, depends largely on the rhythmic cadence of the sea. Matanzas, rich in tradition and home to poets and musicians, is simply encantanda.
Cienfuegos, the Pearl South with a perfect urban design, took a large French colony for over 100 years and today is one of the most beautiful cities in Cuba and one of the most important ports, the city is simply a nineteenth century architectural gem. Caibarien, a typical fishing village, is the door today to visit the pristine cays of the northern coast of Villa Clara among them have Cayo Las Brujas, Cayo Santa Maria and Los Ensenachos, among others. They have a very promising future of tourism due to the incomparable beauty of its beaches and nature and are intended to be a must visit point in the Caribbean.
